A couple years ago, I attended a festival of some sorts and found a little treasure at one of the booths: a little blue book titled, “All About Virgo.” As a Virgo star sign, I was intrigued and the owner of the booth let me keep the book without charge. Either by coincidence or fate, the book was fascinatingly accurate. Almost every page flawlessly described my personality and/or interests. One page that caught my eye contained a picture of a boy playing a violin and the caption read, “If you enjoy the finer things, your years will be much richer.”
When I first read the caption, I didn’t really comprehend its meaning. Apart from the picture, I assumed it meant finer things as in items of better quality and higher price tags. But two nights ago, after watching “The Pianist,” I’ve begun to understand that the finer things don’t have to be tangible and bought. This was a really inspiring part of the movie that is about 8 minutes long, but I encourage you to watch it.
Music for one is something that can always be part of your life. You might not be able to play sports let alone walk for the rest of your life, but you can always play an instrument.
There are a lot of “finer things in life” that I have yet to really take advantage of. Even simple things such as taking a walk in a park and spending time with family. But hopefully I’ll really be able to appreciate these before it’s too late.
